Michael Bennett and his wife Pele have launched a foundation to fight childhood obesity.
'The Bennett Foundation' encourages kids and their families to live a healthy lifestyle through community outreach, educational workshops, physical activity, and nutritional programs.
The Seahawks defensive end kicked off the initiative with an event this past weekend, inviting children from the Boys & Girls Club of Bellevue out for a bike ride at Bellevue Downtown Park. Also joining Bennett on his joy ride reminiscent of the one he took following the team's NFC Championship win over the Green Bay Packers were linebacker K.J. Wright, defensive tackle Brandon Mebane, and left tackle Russell Okung.
The get together also served as an awareness-builder for Bennett's Family Health Fest coming up at the end of the month.
"We'll get the whole she-bang," Bennett told KING 5 News. "Whenever you're dealing with me you're dealing with the best. This is gonna be one of the best events Seattle's ever had. So, look out Paul, look out Bill Gates, I'm coming for you guys."
