Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is featured in a brand-new promo for season seven of
The show, which centers around a group of friends and their fantasy football league, casts Lynch as a business partner of 'Taco,' one of the comedy's more creative characters who runs his own business, Taco Corp. The clip is embedded for you above and it takes a lighthearted jab at the Seahawks' final offensive play of Super Bowl XLIX against the New England Patriots, a play I'm sure you all remember and one we don't need to rehash any further in this space.
The League's executive producers, Jackie and Jeff Schaffer, just so happen to be Seahawks fans. The pair talked to *Entertainment Weekly *about their decision to bring 'Beast Mode' on set.
"We are Seahawks season ticket-holders and we had so much fun having Marshawn on last year that we had to do it again," the Schaffers said in an email. "If the Seahawks had won the Super Bowl, it was going to be a parody of the 'I'm going to Disney World!' ads. As you may have heard, that did not happen. So after we cried ourselves to sleep for the next month, we knew what the scene had to be about…."
Seattle Executive VP/General Manager John Schneider and a Seahawks fan will also be making an appearance in the upcoming season of The League. The Schaffers share a connection with Schneider after having "donated" a speaking, cameo role in season seven to auction off for Ben's Fund, founded by Schneider and his wife Traci in partnership with Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) of Washington to provide grant opportunities to families across the state. The fund, named after the Schneider's autistic son Ben, raised more than $574,000 for autism treatment during a celebrity waiter event this past April.
