Seahawks Announce Fan Activities For Sunday's Game

The team announced fan activities for Sunday's game against the Falcons including events prior to kickoff and breast cancer awareness elements featured during the game.

RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks announced today fan activities for the Sunday, October 16 game versus the Atlanta Falcons. All stadium gates open at 10:25 a.m. and kickoff is at 1:25 p.m. 

Volunteers from the local collegiate and alumnae chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) will distribute 30,000 pink ribbons to fans as they enter the stadium.  In Touchdown City, American Cancer Society and Talking Rain Beverage Company will be awarding fans pink breast cancer awareness capes and representatives from the ZTA and Puget Sound affiliate of Susan G. Komen will be onsite to share information about the importance of screening.

Sea Gals will pay tribute to those fighting breast cancer with a halftime performance.  They will be joined by 200 students, representing area high school dance teams including:  Eastlake, Hanford, Kentridge, Liberty, Skyline and Tumwater, in addition celebrating 40 breast cancer survivors. Breast cancer awareness elements featured during the game will include the following: 

  • Game balls with pink ribbon decals used for every down and pink kicking tees
  • Pink caps, wristbands, whistles and pins for game officials
  • Pink coins used for the coin toss
  • On-field pink ribbon stencils and A Crucial Catch wall banners
  • Pink goal post padding in end zones
  • Team-specific New Era hats with pink accents for coaches and sideline personnel
  • Pink ribbon pins for coaches and teams
  • Pink equipment for players including: cleats, wristbands, gloves, sideline caps, helmet decals, captains' patches, skull caps, sideline towels, and quarterback towels

All pink game-worn items will be auctioned off at NFLAuction.com with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society.

Seattle native, Melissa Reese will perform the anthem.  Melissa attended Roosevelt High School and was a member of the award winning Vocal Jazz Ensemble.  Her hard work led her to record with the legendary Bootsy Collins as well as co-produce and write songs with Grammy-award winning producer Drumma Boy. Reese's music production on the remix for Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" video resulted in a Grammy for Best Music Video in 2016. Melissa works quite a bit with critically acclaimed director Joseph Khan, most recently on his "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot that amassed over 18 million views in two days. She also has tracks in several network cable series including: Showtime's "Inside the NFL," ABC's "Mistresses" and "Cashmere Mafia," E!'s "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" and The CW's "Gossip Girl." She and her partner Bryan "Brain" Mantia composed the music for the full-length major Playstation series release Infamous 2 - which received a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Original Composition by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. She has spent her career in the studio as a recording artist, composer and musician, and earlier this year joined legendary rock act Guns N' Roses as keyboard player.

The U.S. Marine Corps, representing the Security Force Battalion at Banger,will present the U.S. colors.

Volunteers representing YMCA of Greater Seattle will be distributing the Seahawks Gameday Magazine for $5 as part of the Spirit of 12 Partners program. All proceeds raised will be matched 100% by the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation. 

American Family Insurance Touchdown City is free and opens at 10 a.m. Seahawks Legend Paul Skanskiwill be signing autographs from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the American Family Insurance Legends Experience.  Local funk and disco band, Sonic Funk Orchestra, will perform on the main stage from Noon-1 p.m. 

Fans are encouraged to visit the Safeway Tailgate Experience and "Play 12" for a chance to win free groceries for a year.  Additional activities include the following:

  • Two 13'x 24' high definition/resolution screens for fans to watch other NFL games
  • Interactive games and contests
  • Photo opportunities
  • Airbrush tattoos and hair painting
  • Performances by Sea Gals and Blue Thunder
  • Sea Gals autograph booth
  • Appearance by BOOM, Seahawks mascot
  • Opportunity to take images with Taima, team's augur hawk

  • CenturyLink Quarterback Challenge for a chance to win the opportunity to compete for $5,000
  • 710 ESPN Seattle and KIRO Radio 97.3 FM pregame show featuring live reports and analysis with host Dori Monson and Seahawks Legends Sam Adkins, Jordan Babineaux, Paul Moyer and Dave Wyman

Interstate will perform alternative rock music on the outdoor stage located at the northwest entrance to the stadium from 12:10 - 1:15 p.m. and at the same location immediately following the game.  The Marlin James Bandwill perform country music in the Brougham Beer Hall from 12:10 - 1:15 p.m.

American Express Section 12 will be staged at the northwest entrance.  American Express card members will be able to charge their phones and meet Seahawks Legend and Ring of Honor member Jacob Green from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The team's four retail locations will offer a variety of pink merchandise throughout the month with a pledge to donate 10% of the sales to support the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program, which provides transportation to/from treatment for patients.  Fans will also be able to make a donation at all registers during check-out.   The Pro Shop's pink merchandise includes men's and women's Nike sweatshirts and t-shirts, plus a line of New Era breast cancer awareness caps.  The Pro Shop retail stores are located at CenturyLink Field, downtown Seattle, Renton Landing and Alderwood Mall.

Seahawks fans are encouraged to plan ahead and arrive early to enjoy game day activities and avoid any traffic or parking delays.  A transportation guide is available at Seahawks Gameday Guide.

The hashtags for Sunday's game against the Falcons is #ATLvsSEA and #NFLPink.  Fans are encouraged to tweet their gameday photos to @12s, an account curated by the Seahawks, using the hashtag #WeAre12.
