Miesha Tate wins UFC women's bantamweight title
UFC 196 was one of the biggest sporting events of the weekend, and a local product came up with a big victory in Las Vegas. Miesha Tate, who is from Tacoma and who attended Central Washington University, knocked off champion Holly Holm in to take the women's bantamweight title.
Tate, who for a previous fight once entered the ring with a 12 flag, used her post-fight press conference to drop a not-so-subtle hint that she'd like to raise a much larger 12 flag sometime this fall.
"The Seahawks did not win a championship this year, but I'm from Washington so I'm really happy to bring this belt back home," Tate said. "Maybe they'll let me raise the 12th Man flag now. Y'all can put that out there for me."

Sports Illustrated came up with a list of the NFL's most cost-efficient Pro Bowlers, and Seahawks receiver/return specialist Tyler Lockett checks in at No. 3 on the list:
"Tyler Lockett's biggest contributions in 2015 were supposed to come on special teams. The rookie certainly didn't disappoint there, finishing just behind Landry for second place in Pro Football Focus's special teams player rankings and in third place in all-purpose yardage (1,915). But Lockett also surprisingly outranked Landry and everyone else in the league with a staggering 14.8 yards per touch, proving his exhilarating exploits translate to Seattle's offense, too.
"Seahawks coach Pete Carroll couldn't help but use his new supercharged toy, deploying Lockett on more than 60% of offensive snaps. All in all, not a bad return on a 5' 10" third-round pick."
