Seattle Seahawks Sign DE Tylor Harris, Waive DE Montese Overton

The Seahawks added defensive end Tylor Harris to their 90-man roster before the 11th practice of training camp.

The Seahawks signed rookie defensive end Tylor Harris prior to the start of their 11th practice of training camp, making room on the 90-man roster by waiving defensive end Montese Overton. Seattle also announced it has waived defensive end Christian French, who was on injured reserve.

Harris, who's listed at 6-foot-3 and 306 pounds, played his college ball at Wake Forest, participated in the Seahawks' rookie minicamp on a tryout basis earlier this spring. He played nose tackle for the Demon Deacons, recording 83 tackles (13.5 for loss), five sacks, four fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles in his career. The four fumble recoveries came during his junior season, a number that led the ACC and tied for the national lead, with three of the four coming in one game at Louisville when he returned one for a touchdown. He also blocked three kicks that year, an ACC-high and number that tied for the national lead. Harris wore No. 69 in rookie minicamp for Seattle, but was wearing No. 64 as he took the practice field for the Seahawks on Thursday.

Overton and French, meanwhile, originally signed with the club as a free agents following the 2016 NFL Draft. French was waived/injured this past May and reverted to the club's injured reserve list after going unclaimed on waivers.
