Seahawks Running Back Thomas Rawls Gets Carries in Preseason Finale at Oakland Raiders

Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls, whose rookie season ended with an ankle injury, saw his first snaps of the 2016 preseason on Thursday night against the Oakland Raiders.

OAKLAND -- Thomas Rawls saw his first carries of the 2016 preseason on Thursday against the Raiders, the Seahawks running back's first game touches since the ankle injury that ended his promising rookie season last December.

Rawls worked with Seattle's second team offense in the first quarter at Oakland Coliseum, seeing action on the team's second possession of the night. Rawls, who has been working full go on the practice field, carried two times for seven yards - the first carry a 1-yard loss and the second an 8-yard gain - in what is likely be his only work of exhibition play.

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll said recently he has "no hesitation" that Rawls will be ready to go for the Seahawks' regular season opener on Sept. 11 against the Miami Dolphins.

"Thomas looks really good," Carroll said. "All I can tell you is he looks great. I have no hesitation telling you he's going to play in the opener. I have no hesitation saying that."

Last year, in place of oft-injured starter Marshawn Lynch, Rawls ran for 830 yards and four touchdowns while averaging an NFL-best 5.6 yards per carry.

Veteran running back Christine Michael, who has enjoyed a strong preseason himself, saw work with the Seahawks' first-team offense against the Raiders before giving way to Rawls.
