The Seahawks made a roster move Wednesday, releasing fullback Will Tukuafu.
Tukuafu, who has spent the past two seasons with Seattle, was released prior to the start of the season, then re-signed last week. He played seven snaps at fullback in Sunday's loss to Los Angeles and an additional four plays on special teams.
As of now the Seahawks have an open spot on their 53-man roster, and how they fill it could be determined late in the week by injury situations at different positions.
The Seahawks also made a change to their practice squad, signing receiver Kasen Williams and running back Terrence Magee, and releasing cornerback Tye Smith and offensive tackle Michael Ola.
Williams, who spent last season with the Seahawks on the practice squad and the active roster, provides depth in a week when both Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett are dealing with knee injuries sustained in Sunday's game at Los Angeles, though Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said both should be able to practice Wednesday and play in this week's game against the 49ers.
Williams, who signed with the Seahawks last year as an undrafted rookie out of Washington, spent most of the season on the practice squad before signing to the 53-man roster late in the season. He appeared in two games, catching one pass for 8 yards and rushing once for 5 yards. Williams was limited in training camp this season with a hamstring injury before eventually being waived.
Magee, 23, signed with Baltimore last season as an undrafted free agent out of LSU, and appeared in four games, carrying twice for 5 yards. He spent training camp this year with the Los Angeles Rams and was briefly on their practice squad. Carroll said running back Thomas Rawls could be limited in practice this week because of a leg injury, though he too has a good chance to play Sunday.
Smith, a fifth-round pick in 2015, spent last season on Seattle's 53-man roster, but was waived this year when the Seahawks set their roster, then later signed to the practice squad. Ola, who has spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, San Diego Chargers and Detroit Lions, signed to Seattle's practice squad last week.
