On Thursday, to celebrate National Salute to Veteran Patients Week, the Seahawks visited Seattle Veterans Hospital, where the club helped open a revamped recreation room for the former military personnel.

Offensive linemen Germain Ifedi and George Fant, as well as members of the Sea Gals and the Seahawks' community relations team, spent the afternoon showing veterans around their new room. The group engaged in Seahawks-themed sessions of Bingo, XBOX showdowns — thanks to a Microsoft donation — and billiards played on a pool table gifted by Phyllis Flood, mother of Seahawks' Vice President of Community Relations Mike Flood, in loving memory of Col. George G. Flood, USMC — Mike's father who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

"We have worked with a lot of veterans, but this is really one of the coolest projects we've ever got to do," Mike Flood, who served 20 years in the Coast Guard, relayed before the recreation room's ribbon-cutting ceremony. "It's really an honor for us to be able to do something for you. The 12s do a lot for us, and we consider ourselves to be the 12s for military personnel and veterans, that includes every one of you.

"We're very happy to be able to put this project together with you."
