Curious who plays in each game and how much they play, as well as what the distribution of playing time might mean? Throughout the season, we'll post the snap counts for the Seahawks the day after each game and take a look at what stood out.
Here's what we learned from the Seahawks' 34-31 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 11 at CenturyLink Field:
Offense
- Five players saw action on 100 percent of Seattle's offensive plays, including quarterback Russell Wilson, right tackle Germain Ifedi, left tackle Duane Brown, left guard Ethan Pocic, and center Justin Britt. Right guard Oday Aboushi played a majority of the game (77 percent of snaps) before going out with a shoulder injury. Mark Glowinski stepped in for the injured Aboushi and played the remainder of Seattle's offensive snaps (26 percent) at the spot.
- At running back, Mike Davis saw his first snaps as a Seahawk after being promoted from the practice squad this past week. Before going down with a groin injury, the third-year pro showed promise, carrying six times for 18 yards, including a long run of 13, and making two grabs for 41 yards while playing 22 percent of Seattle's offensive plays. J.D. McKissic stepped in to carry the bulk of the load after Davis' injury, finishing the game with seven carries for 30 yards and catching five passes for 23 yards while playing 68 percent of the snaps. Eddie Lacy, meanwhile, had his workload limited in his return from a groin injury that kept him out of action the week prior, playing 8 percent of offensive snaps for the Seahawks.
- Doug Baldwin and Paul Richardson recorded the most snaps at the receiver spot, seeing action on 84 and 82 percent, respectively, of Seattle's plays. Tyler Lockett, meanwhile, worked as Seattle's third receiver and saw the field on 64 percent of the Seahawks' snaps.
- Jimmy Graham led the team in receiving, hauling in seven of his team-high 11 targets for 58 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown catch. Graham led Seattle tight ends in snaps (65 percent) followed by backups Luke Willson (45 percent) and Nick Vannett (27 percent).
Defense
- Three Seahawks were in on 100 percent of Seattle's defensive plays, including linebacker Bobby Wagner, free safety Earl Thomas, and safety Bradley McDougald, who was subbing for an injured Kam Chancellor (neck).
- At cornerback, with Richard Sherman (Achilles) out for the season Jeremy Lane stepped into the starting lineup opposite rookie Shaquill Griffin and played 98 percent of Seattle's defensive snaps. Griffin, however, played just 3 percent of the Seahawks' snaps, leaving the game early to be evaluated for a concussion. That allowed Byron Maxwell, who was signed this past week, to step in and play a majority of the contest with his former club. Maxwell was in on 95 percent of plays for the Seahawks, tallying three tackles and a pass defensed. Justin Coleman, meanwhile, continued to work at the nickel cornerback spot and was in for 39 percent of defensive snaps for Seattle.
- Up front, Michael Bennett paced the defensive line, playing 89 percent of plays for Seattle and recording two quarterback hits and one tackle for loss in the process. Sheldon Richardson managed the Seahawks' lone sack of the night playing 76 percent of plays, while defensive tackle Nazair Jones (74 percent) and defensive end Frank Clark (73 percent) rounded out the mainstays in Seattle's D-line rotation. Defensive end Dion Jordan, who was in on 41 percent of plays against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10, his first NFL game in nearly three years, saw his workload dialed back a bit against the Falcons, playing 31 percent of Seattle's defensive snaps.
- Linebacker Terence Garvin stepped in for injured starter Michael Wilhoite (calf) at strongside linebacker and logged a quarterback hit while playing 61 percent of Seattle's defensive plays. Garvin also made a tackle on special teams.
Special Teams
- Linebacker D.J. Alexander (76 percent) and cornerback Neiko Thorpe (74 percent) saw the most action on special teams for the Seahawks, with Alexander making a team-high two special teams tackles.
- Rookie safety Tedric Thompson (52 percent) was responsible for one game-altering play, recovering a kickoff the Falcons muffed at their own 11-yard-line that helped set up a Seahawks touchdown.
- Lockett (32 percent) made the most of his five kickoff returns. The former Pro Bowl and All-Pro return specialist brought his tries back for 197 yards (39.4-yard average), including a long of 57.
