The Seahawks made a roster move Tuesday, promoting center Joey Hunt off the practice squad. No corresponding move was needed to make room for Hunt, as the Seahawks had an open roster spot after placing linebacker Josh Forrest on injured reserve Saturday.
Hunt, a sixth-round pick out of TCU in 2016, appeared in nine games last season, starting one. In addition to serving as Justin Britt's backup last season, Hunt notably saw very brief action at fullback on his first NFL play, helping pave the way for a 1-yard touchdown run in a win over Atlanta. The Seahawks waived Hunt prior to the start of the season, the signed him to the practice squad.
The Seahawks also made a couple of additions to the practice squad, bringing back offensive tackle Isaiah Battle, defensive tackle Garrison Smith and receiver Cyril Grayson Jr. Tight end Steve Donatell was released from the practice squad.
Battle was on the 53-man roster for the first two months of the season after being traded to Seattle from Kansas City on Sept. 2, then was waived and signed to the practice squad last month before being released last week. Smith has appeared in five games for Seattle this season, recording five tackles, then was released last week to make room on the roster for Rodney Coe. Grayson signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent despite having not played organized football since high school—he was a track and field standout at LSU—then was waived as part of Seattle's roster cuts, then signed to the practice squad. He also spent time on Indianapolis' practice squad this season.
