The Seahawks made a big splash two weeks before the NFL's trade deadline, acquiring All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts.

The deal, which is pending a physical, will send a 2027 third-round pick and 2028 fifth-rounder to the Colts in exchange for Nelson, who has been one of the NFL's best offensive linemen since coming into the league as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2018 draft.

Nelson, the Colts' starting left guard from the beginning of his rookie season, was named first-team All-Pro in each of his first three seasons in the league, and has been named second-team All-Pro three times, including each of the past two seasons. Nelson has earned Pro Bowl honors in each of his eight seasons in the league, making him one of two offensive linemen in league history, along with Hall of Fame tackle Joe Thomas, to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons.

In addition to being a dominant player, Nelson has also been a very durable one, starting every game over the past nine seasons aside from four games he missed in 2021 due to an ankle injury.

This season, per Pro Football Reference, Nelson has not allowed a sack in 275 pass-block snaps and is allowing just a 2.2 percent pressure rate. And in addition to all of the physical traits that have made him one of the best players of his era, Nelson also made his mark in Indianapolis with his work ethic and leadership

"Since day one, he's really been a culture-setter," tackle Braden Smith, who was teammates with Nelson from 2018-2025, told Colts.com last season.

"Sometimes guys try to fake it, but this is all genuine. He just brings it every day, he has a really positive attitude, just a great guy to be around, a great teammate.

"And he just really, truly loves every guy in this locker room."

While the Seahawks are giving up multiple picks in this deal, they are projected to have multiple compensatory picks in next year's draft after losing Boye Mafe, Kenneth Walker III, Riq Woolen and Coby Bryant in free agency, as well as a third-round compensatory pick from Nolan Teasley leaving to become the general manager of the Vikings.
