The Sea Gals were created at the Seahawks franchise's inception in 1976. Since then, the size of the squad has varied, but its purpose has not: high-energy entertainment by technically talented dancers. Their signature uniforms with beautiful embellishments and rhinestones dazzled the stadium on gameday. On the whole, the Sea Gals set the tone for other NFL cheerleading teams by the structure of the program, their coaching and leadership, and a high-quality experience for squad members.
From the 1990s to the 2000s, the Sea Gals program added several new initiatives. A Show Group was developed into a successful variety show that traveled the world, the Junior Sea Gals program was launched, and the first Sea Gals calendar and calendar unveiling became a fan-favorite.
In 2019, the Sea Gals rebranded, adding men and changing the team's name to the Seahawks Dancers. The Seahawks Dancers also elevated the level of technical dancing required to make the team, making it one of the most advanced in the NFL. Today, the squad is made up of 28 members and they continue to perform at all home games in Lumen Field.
Beyond gameday, the Seahawks Dancers serve the community as ambassadors of the Seahawks brand by appearing at over 300 events each year. In the off-season, members of the Seahawks Dancers tour military bases around the world in support of our troops.
