The Seahawks are excited to bring you Episode 3 of the five-part series called 'Before the Noise.' The series is the prequel to the season-long docuseries ‘The Sound.'
In Episode 2 of 'Before the Noise.' fans heard from different scouts from the personnel department to learn about Pro Days, local days and spending time with local players and free agents. The Seahawks hosted the University of Washington, University of Oregon and Oregon State for their local day.
In this installment of the series, hear from all eight draftees as well as head coach Mike Macdonald and general manager/president of football operations John Schneider about their experience throughout the three days of the draft.
After their first selection of the draft at No. 16, Schneider called first-round pick Byron Murphy II a "high-motor, high-effort" player.
"To sit here and think that we'd be able to acquire him we'd being lying to you," Schneider said.
In the episode, Macdonald also talks about the kind of team he's building, saying, "We want to be physical; we want to be imposing, we want to create new lines of scrimmage. I think you're seeing the investment in that we're going to have awesome competition on both lines of scrimmage. It'll be fun to have iron sharpen iron throughout the process."
Murphy adds that he appreciates having Macdonald as a head coach.
"It means a lot, having a defensive-minded coach. I feel like he's going to put me in the best positions on the field in order to be successful. His scheme, the defense, where I'm going to be playing will set up a lot of opportunities for me to do great on defense," Murphy said.
From now until June, 12s can watch bi-weekly episodes of 'Before the Noise' and grasp a better understanding of all the hard work, dedication and long hours that go into building the Seahawks.
