As Seattle head coach Pete Carroll said would be the case on Friday, the Seahawks will be without starting left tackle Bradley Sowell on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills.
Sowell, who was officially listed as questionable on Seattle's final gameday status designation report, is set to miss a second consecutive game after injuring his knee in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals.
"He's just surviving the early parts of practice," Carroll said on Friday of Sowell, who was a limited participant in practice each day this past week. "He's not ready to go yet. We were hoping that he might make a turn, but he has not made that turn yet."
Rookie offensive lineman George Fant, a former college basketball player, made his NFL debut last week against the New Orleans Saints, starting at left tackle in Sowell's place. Seattle's coaching staff indicated this past week that it was impressed with Fant's first start. Chances are that he gets the start again at left tackle against the Bills, though when asked Friday if Fant would play at the spot with Sowell out, Carroll said: "We may have some surprises for you but I can't tell you. I don't know."
Five of Seattle's six other inactive players against the Bills were already declared out on Friday, with strong safety Kam Chancellor (groin), cornerback DeAndre Elliott (hamstring), running back Thomas Rawls (fibula), tight end Luke Willson (knee), and defensive end Michael Bennett (knee) all sidelined by injuries. Rookie offensive lineman Rees Odhiambo is the Seahawks' seventh and final inactive player against Buffalo.
Of note for the Bills, starting running back LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and NFL sack leader Lorenzo Alexander (hamstring) are both active after being listed as questionable heading into gameday. Former Seahawks wideout Percy Harvin, who rejoined the Bills this past week after coming out of retirement, is also active for today's game.
