The Seahawks won their first matchup of the 2016 season against the San Francisco 49ers, 37-18, at CenturyLink Field on Sunday. To recap notable player performances, team milestones and (of course) how the game played out, we compiled 10 numbers from the Week 2 contest:
1
It finally happened. The Seahawks defense registered its first turnover of the season, courtesy of a Bobby Wagner interception of Blaine Gabbert in the third quarter (you get bonus points if you predicted he would get it in this fashion). Wagner's INT was the sixth of his career, and first since 2013.
2
Running back Christine Michael had a great day against the 49ers. Michael scored the first two touchdowns of his career (from 41 and four yards out, respectively), and set a new career-high for rushing yards in a game with 106.
"For us to get C-Mike 100 yards today, that's terrific." Pete Carroll said. "That's the kind of output we hoped that he could have. This was really the first game where he had to carry the load. He knew that and he came through in a good way."
6
The 49ers have lost their last six games against the Seahawks and have been outscored 145-60 in those matchups.
13
Linebacker K.J. Wright finished the game with seven total tackles, his 13th consecutive game with six or more.
16
Rookie Trevone Boykin saw his first NFL game action and recorded his first touchdown pass: a 16-yard throw to Baldwin. Boykin took over in the third quarter for Russell Wilson, who left the game due to injury.
"It was exciting to see Boykin out there and he threw his first touchdown pass." Wilson said. "He's put a lot of hard work in, so to have a great backup quarterback like he is, is a good thing."
"He was very easy to communicate with, which is a really good sign." Carroll said of Boykin. "It was great that he was out there, so he can jump in whenever we need him."
18
In addition to Michael, Sunday was also a big game for tight end Jimmy Graham. Graham caught six of his nine targets for 100 yards against the 49ers — all of which came in the first half — which included an 18-yard touchdown from Wilson. The touchdown was the first for Graham since Week 3 of last season against the Bears, and this was his 15th career 100-yard receiving game and first since posting 140 against Carolina last season on October 18.
"I'm used to him, there's no doubt in my mind when Jimmy is out there, or anybody is out there, all our guys know how to do it just right." Wilson said of Graham. "Just give them a chance and put them in their best positions, the things that they do really well, and let them show out. Jimmy did that today, all of our guys did."
24
The Seahawks continued their defensive dominance on third down, forcing the 49ers to go 4-of-15 (27 percent) — including 0-for-6 in the first half. Heading into tonight's slate on Monday Night Football between the Saints and Falcons, Seattle's defense ranks first in third down conversion percentage across the NFL with a percentage rate of 24.
25
One downside to Seattle's defensive performance? They weren't able to prevent a running back from rushing over 100 yards for the 25th game in a row. Running back Carlos Hyde ended the streak with a 103-yard performance on 21 carries. It should be noted, though, that the majority of Hyde's yardage came when the game was out of reach. He was held to only 24 yards in the first half.
"Yeah, I don't think we finished well." Safety Kam Chancellor said. "We held them to three for the majority of the game. I think we should have finished it that way.
114.9
Wilson finished the game 15-of-23 and passed for 243 yards on the day, posting a 114.9 passer rating. It marked the sixth time in the past seven games at home he's had a rating of 100 or higher.
164
Baldwin caught eight of his 10 targets Sunday for 164 yards, a new career-high for yardage, surpassing the 145 he recorded against the Steelers last year. Additionally, Baldwin has nine touchdowns in the past 7 games at CenturyLink Field.
