Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner will return to Los Angeles in Week 11, where he spent the 2022 season with the Rams. As Seattle looks to avenge its Week 1 loss to their divisional foe, here are some of the top players, including Wagner, to sport both uniforms across their careers.
LB Bobby Wagner
2022 was the only season of Wagner's 12-year career spent outside of Seattle, signing via free agency to play for his hometown team. In 17 games, the Los Angeles native recorded 140 tackles, two interceptions, 10 tackles for loss and a career-high 6.0 sacks. Last year marked the 11 consecutive seasons that the Utah State alum has recorded 100-plus tackles, and ahead of Sunday's matchup, Wagner is just five tackles shy of doing it in Year 12. For the Ontario, California native isn't making a big deal out of facing the team he played for in 2022, but it is always a special game for him when the Seahawks play in L.A. since it's close to home.
"It kind of went back to what it was before," said Wagner. "Me going back and being able to play at home. It's a big game, it's the next game - it should be fun."
RB Curt Warner
In the 1983 draft, the Seahawks selected Penn State running back Curt Warner No. 3 overall. Warner would go on to become the first rookie in franchise history to rush for 1,000 yards (1,449) and 13 rushing touchdowns, also adding 42 receptions and a receiving score. In his seven seasons in a Seahawks jersey, Warner rushed for 1,000-plus yards four times. In that time, Warner started 92 of 93 games played, rushing for 6,705 yards, 55 rushing touchdowns and catching another seven scores.
In 1990, Warner joined the Rams for his final season, playing in seven games.
C Blair Bush
University of Washington center Blair Bush spent his 17-year NFL career with four franchises, after being selected No. 16 overall in 1978 by the Cincinnati Bengals. After being named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie team, Bush would go on to start 65 games with the Bengals, helping Cincinnati to climb to a Super Bowl XVI appearance in 1982.
Bush joined Seattle in 1983, helping the franchise earn their first playoff appearance as they advanced to the AFC championship game. In six seasons with Seattle, Bush would start 78 of 82 games played. In 1989, Bush joined the Green Bay Packers, playing 18 games across three seasons before joining the Rams. After three seasons, Bush called it a career at 38 years old.
DE Grant Wistrom
Nebraska alum and nine-year NFL veteran defensive end Grant Wistrom was selected No. 6-overall by the Rams in the 1998 draft. After appearing in 13 games as a rookie, Wistrom helped the Rams win Super Bowl XXXIV, recording 6.5 sacks, and two interceptions returned for touchdowns. Through six seasons with the franchise, Wistrom would record 41.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and five interceptions.
In 2004, Wistrom joined the Seahawks, playing the final-three seasons of his career. Wistrom would start all 41 of his appearances, recording 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two recoveries and 19 tackles for loss.
DE Tony Woods
Seattle served as the first of three NFL stops for defensive end Tony Woods, after getting selected 18th overall by Seattle in 1987. The University of Pittsburgh alum would ascend from role player as a rookie to starter, accumulating 543 tackles, 16 sacks, six fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. Woods would join the Rams in 1993 for one season, starting in eight games. In 1994, Woods made the final stop of his career with Washington, recording 109 tackles and 7.5 sacks across three seasons.
P Rick Tuten
Punter and Florida State alum Rick Tuten spent his 11-year league career with five franchises. After splitting the first three seasons of his career with the San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills, Tuten signed with the Seahawks in 1991. After recording a career-high 4,760 punting yards in 1992, Tuten earned Second Team All-Pro honors in 1994. Over seven seasons with Seattle, Tuten averaged 43.8 yards per punt, landing 147 kicks inside the 20. In 1997, Tuten joined the Rams, earning a championship ring two years later in Super Bowl XXXIV.
The Seahawks and Rams face off for the last game of the regular season on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2024. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. PT. Take a look back through history at the Seahawks' matchups against the Rams.
