SEATTLE - It's been an entertaining first half of football at CenturyLink Field between the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs. The Seahawks lead the Chiefs in a tight one, 16-10. Here are quick notes from the first two quarters:
- The Seahawks first offensive line group tonight, from left to right, featured the following players: Rees Odhiambo, Luke Joeckel, Justin Britt, Oday Aboushi and Germain Ifedi. Seattle went with this unit on their first two drives before Mark Glowinski subbed in for Aboushi at right guard.
- Minus a neutral zone infraction penalty, rookie Nazair Jones had a great start to his third preseason game. Jones not only got some run with the first-team defensive unit, but made three tackles on the opening drive — all consecutively.
- Penalties hurt the Seahawks from scoring touchdowns on their first two offensive possessions: a false start by Ifedi and a hold by right guard Aboushi. Fortunately for Seattle, they were still able to put field goals on the board thanks to Blair Walsh.
- K.J. Wright made a huge stop on Kansas City's opening drive and forced the Chiefs to settle for a field goal. Wright, who missed last week's game against Minnesota, fiercely blasted through Kansas City's offensive line and stopped running back Kareem Hunt for a 4-yard loss. He finished with a team-high four tackles at the half.
- Russell Wilson was superb in the first half, going 10-of-14 and throwing for 160 yards and one touchdown (133.0 rating). He threw the ball to seven different targets, including a 2-yard scoring toss to Tre Madden, and the led the Seahawks on scoring drives their first three possessions.
- Rookie Chris Carson has played well on the ground and through the air. Carson has 30 yards rushing on five carries and two receptions for 44 yards, including a huge 37-yard reception he made on the Seahawks' second offensive play.
- Overall, this has been a somewhat sloppy game. Both teams have combined for 13 penalties for 111 yards (Chiefs: 6-51, Seahawks: 7-60).
