NFL brotherly connections.
Haynes' brother, linebacker Marcus Haynes spent time on the Broncos practice squad, but signed a future contract with the Houston Texans. Haynes said that throughout the draft process his brother has given him advice. "Always be confident in anything I do," Haynes said on what his brother has told him. "Every day come and be a pro and help the team in any way that you can. It doesn't matter where you are on the depth chart, it doesn't matter what your roles are, just go in there and put your best foot forward for the team, always."
Has dreams of opening a restaurant.
Outside of football, Haynes said he enjoys cooking and wants to open a restaurant.
"I'd say I'd open up a breakfast, brunch spot," he said. "I love breakfast and brunch." He said his specialty on the menu would be pancakes.
Enjoys fishing and being in the community.
More activities that Haynes has fun doing when he's not on the field are fishing and giving back to the community. Haynes spent six years in college, and in undergrad, he majored in human development and family sciences and received his master's degree in sport management. "This last semester I was able to be a GA student advisor for our football program," Haynes said, "So I was able to help out freshmen, help them with their schedule, prepare for different things coming up… it was a really helpful process for myself."
Is a Geno Smith fan.
Even though Haynes is a guard and not a quarterback, he said he grew up watching Geno Smith's film from his time at West Virginia.
"I've been a Seattle fan just growing up. I'm a big Geno fan as well. I used to watch him a lot when he was at West Virginia."
Along with being a Smith fan, Haynes said he's heard about, "The fans, the 12s, the culture... I'm ready to come out there and just dominate."
An interesting choice for a pet.
Haynes told UConn athletics that his favorite animal is a pig because of the movies Babe and Charlotte's Web.
He said that he would have a pig as a pet. "I've always wanted to have a pet pig. A pig with black spots, it would be a nice little house pig.
