On top of all the 12s worldwide, the Seahawks will have a couple of celebrity fans on their side when they face off against the New England Patriots this Sunday, Feb. 1 in Super Bowl XLIX.
Pop-singer Katy Perry, who's headlining the halftime show at Glendale's University of Phoenix Stadium, and singer-songwriter Idina Menzel, who's singing the national anthem, both said they'll be rooting for the Seahawks during a Thursday press conference in Phoenix.
Perry said she recently texted Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson for advice on what to eat before her performance. She expected Wilson to reply with a list of healthy choices, but instead received a suggestion of "cheeseburgers and pizzas."
"I love the Seahawks because of Russell and I think that I'm going to probably go for them," said Perry.
Menzel, born in Queens, New York, said she couldn't ever bring herself to root for New England.
"Yeah, because I'm a New-Yorker I cannot root for the Patriots," Menzel said. "So I will root for Seattle."
Perry, asked if she had her eye on any players playing in this week's NFL title game, also received plenty of laughs from the crowd on hand when she pulled a line from Marshawn Lynch.
"I'm just here so I don't get fined," said Perry.
The reporter, who conducted an interview with Lynch earlier this week, followed up by saying she could introduce Perry to the Seahawks running back.
"I'm just here so I don't get fined," Perry asserted.
