Pete Carroll is ditching his signature shoes. Well, one pair of them, at least.
The Seahawks head coach tweeted Wednesday that he's auctioning off a game-worn set of his Nike Monarch IVs, with all proceeds going to his 'A Better Seattle' foundation.
The shoes, size "quadruple Es" as Carroll called them this past Monday, are signed by Carroll and include a Seahawks hologram on the tongue of the left shoe that's nestled under the phrase 'Air Monarch.' The bidding started at $100, a number that's been raised to $505 as of this writing.
The funds from Carroll's kicks will benefit his work to reduce and prevent youth and gang violence in the greater Seattle area. Founded and led by the Seattle coach, 'A Better Seattle' funds and supports the deployment of YMCA of Seattle's Alive & Free professional trained street outreach workers who serve youth impacted by gangs, violence and the juvenile justice system in South King County.
