As the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft began on Saturday, people inside the Seahawks' draft room began putting on coral pink T-shirts, an act that was taking place simultaneously around the league.
The shirts, which read, "Your light lives on in all of us, C.C.T" were to honor Coral Terpening, the wife of Colts director of college scouting Matt Terpening. Coral died unexpectedly on April 12 while in Louisville attending a volleyball tournament with their daughters.
The idea to have draft rooms around the league wear the shirt came from Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds, according to Seahawks general manager and president of football operations John Schneider. Dodds, who worked in Seattle's front office from 2008-2016, remaining close with his former co-workers in Seattle is just one example of how close-knit the scouting community is in the NFL, something that was on display throughout the league as teams took a moment on a busy day to honor Coral Terpening.
"Matt's a really awesome, awesome guy, and I feel awful for him," Schneider said after the draft ended. "I couldn't imagine what he's going through. When you spent that much time away from your family, you end up having dinners and coffees and beers and all that with a lot of guys on different teams, and you become very close. We love Matt. I thought it was pretty cool we all did that."
