Following a dominant performance in a win over the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is up for Air Player of the Week at NFL.com.
Wilson played against the Jets with a sprained knee and sprained ankle, but still enjoyed his best performance of the season, completing 23 of 32 passes for 309 yards and three touchdowns, giving him a passer rating of 133.5.
"I thought it was just a sterling effort by the quarterback," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said after Seattle's 27-17 victory at MetLife Stadium. "Everybody was wondering and questioning and all what was going to happen and how he was going to be able to do it and he just did it. This was the best he's looked in the past few weeks. He was confident, played great, made great decisions, and did everything we needed him to do today."
Wilson is up against Atlanta's Matt Ryan and Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger for this week's award. Ryan completed 28 of 37 passes for 503 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Carolina Sunday, while Roethlisberger went 22 of 27 for 300 yards and five touchdowns in a win over Kansas City.
If Wilson wins this week, a $2,000 donation to the USO will be made in his name. Fans can vote for Wilson here.
