Richard Sherman, the athlete who two years ago beat out Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to appear on the cover of *Madden NFL 15 *and then lobbied for his 'Legion of Boom' teammates to join him on the startup screen, has the third-highest rating among NFL cornerbacks in the latest installment of the popular video game franchise.
Sherman's initial mark in Madden NFL 17, which is scheduled for an August 23 release, is set at 92 overall, ahead of the Arizona Cardinals' Patrick Peterson and New York Jets' Darrelle Revis, who tie for the fourth-highest rated cornerbacks in the game at 91 overall. The Washington Redskins' Josh Norman (94 overall) and Denver Broncos' Chris Harris Jr. (93 overall) are the two corners that will rank ahead of Seattle's Sherman at the game's launch.
Here's what Madden NFL 17 had to say about Sherman, who leads the League in interceptions (26) and passes defensed (83) since entering the NFL in 2011:
No one would say Sherman lacks confidence and his ratings back that up in Madden NFL 17. Sherman will be best used in Zone with his 94 zone coverage rating.
