Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's going on out there and any news you might have missed, about your Seattle Seahawks this week.

The Sound is back

Season 3 of The Sound premiered this week heading into the Seahawks first preseason game. Episode 1, called Shared Vision in narrated by Jeffery Dean Morgan.

Deciding where this team will go begins in the offseason. As the Seahawks approach Training Camp, Coach Macdonald gets honest with his dad on the golf course about his decision to take the job in Seattle. Julian Love talks about his belief in the new coaching staff, and "Big Cat" Leonard Williams and Tyler Lockett weigh in about stepping up and playing at a high level. We have talent. We have skill. Now, we're building a mindset and playing Seahawks football.

Preseason is upon us

Training camp has wrapped up and preseason is here, which includes two road games, one of those being a joint practice with the Tennessee Titans and a home match up vs. the Cleveland Browns. The Seahawks will be traveling to make their way to Los Angeles this weekend, to play the Chargers in their first preseason game. Seahawks senior reporter, John Boyle, breaks down everything to look for during the preseason game that includes what starters will play, the new kickoff rule and the battle for the No. 3 running back job.

Spending the entire camp preparing to play an opponent, the Seahawks will have their chance on Saturday against the Chargers in their first preseason game.

"We'd like to win the game. You play with a purpose," Macdonald said after Thursday's practice at the VMAC. "But like we told the guys today, we want to give the guys the best opportunity to show their best football. It's [an] awesome opportunity to evaluate where we're at as a football team."

Other position groups to watch on offense include running back, tight end and the entire offensive line — namely rookie draft picks Christian Haynes, Sataoa Laumea and Michael Jerrell. The competition for the third running back spot between George Holani and Kenny McIntosh is heating up, and the stable of tight ends behind Noah Fant and Pharaoh Brown is steeped in a battle for depth roles.

Defensively, rookie first-round pick Byron Murphy II will make his debut, Macdonald said. Starting WILL linebacker Jerome Baker is working back from injury, so there should be plenty of reps for rookie fourth-round pick Tyrice Knight. At the other middle linebacker spot, Tyrel Dodson should at least make a brief debut for the Seahawks.
