The Seahawks re-signed Brandon Cottom Thursday, adding a player who can give them depth at multiple positions. A fullback and running back in college, Cottom has spent time at tight end and fullback with the Seahawks over the past two years, making a push for a roster spot at fullback in camp last year before being sidelined by an Achilles injury. Running back Kelvin Taylor, who spent time on Seattle's active roster and practice squad last season, was waived.
Cottom, who went undrafted out of Purdue in 2015, first signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted rookie that spring, then spent part of the season on Seattle's practice squad. He re-signed with Seattle last year and was competing for a roster spot at fullback prior to his Achilles injury.
The two fullbacks who played for Seattle last season, Will Tukuafu and Marcel Reece, are both currently free agents. Ā
The Seahawks continued 'Phase 2' of their voluntary offseason workout program on Thursday, May 4 and Friday, May 5 at Renton's Virginia Mason Athletic Center.Ā
