For the next few weeks, on Wednesdays and Fridays, while voting is open, we will take a look at each position group of eligible players. We've already taken a look at quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and today we're looking at tight ends.
The Seahawks have a list of 15 wide receivers that are eligible for the Top 50. Seattle has had iconic receivers that have donned the Seahawks uniform, like Steve Largent, whose name is found all through the Seahawks record book. And also now have current receivers in Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, who have become a staple of the Seahawks offense. Of the list of the 15 receivers eligible for the Top 50, the group has six Pro Bowlers, a Hall of Famer, an NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year and two Super Bowl champions. Here is the full list of receivers eligible for the Top 50:
- John Carlson
- Will Dissly
- Christian Fauria
- Jimmy Graham
- Mike Tice
The shortest list of eligible players for the Seahawks Top 50 is the tight end group, with just five players. Of the group, there is one Pro Bowler and two that have been the Seahawks nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
John Carlson was dubbed "a golden retriever" by quarterback Matt Hasselbeck because, "he just runs and comes back and runs and comes back. He doesn't complain and he's great." He earned that nickname by being Hasselbeck's most reliable target as a rookie in 2008. Thanks in part due to injuries that year, Carlson wound up leading the Seahawks in receptions (55), receiving yards (627) and receiving touchdowns (five) on his way to PFWA All-Rookie Team honors.
Will Dissly began his rookie season with 156 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his first three-plus games before suffering a season-ending patella tendon injury. Dissly's injury luck worsened the next year when he tore his Achilles early in the season, but despite those two injuries early in his career, Dissly would be on the field for all 16 games in 2020, and would miss only five games over his final four seasons in Seattle. Dissly, who signed with the Chargers as a free agent in 2024, finished his six-year run in Seattle with 127 catches for 1,421 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Christian Fauria was a second-round pick in 1995, Fauria spent the first seven seasons of a 13-year NFL career in Seattle. In Seattle, Fauria started 73 of 103 games played, recording 166 receptions for 1,683 yards and 13 touchdowns.
After Jimmy Graham was acquired in a 2015 trade, his tenure in Seattle lasted three seasons and included a significant knee injury, a torn patellar tendon late in his first season with the Seahawks, but he still enjoyed considerable success, earning Pro-Bowl honors in 2016 and 2017. In just three seasons, Graham totaled 170 catches for 2,048 yards and 18 touchdowns, all of which rank first among tight ends in franchise history.
Mike Tice signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Maryland in 1981. Tice played his first eight seasons with the Seahawks, making a huge impact on and off the field. He was the Seahawks' nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award for three consecutive years starting in 1985. He ended his Seahawks career with 92 receptions, 766 yards and nine touchdowns.
The Seahawks franchise will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025 so in honor of its 50th season, we are recognizing some of the greatest players to play in Seattle. The 12s have the opportunity to vote for the top 50 players in franchise history, with 163 players being eligible.
