The Seahawks waived/injured defensive end Ryan Robinson on Monday, the result of a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered in last week's Organized Team Activities.
Robinson, who spent time on Seattle's practice squad in 2014 and signed a future contract following the season, last appeared in a regular season game in 2013 when he made 11 appearances with Oakland. But he had been one of the pleasant surprises of OTAs, spending significant time with the first-team defense while Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril were away, and with the No. 1 nickel defense even after Avril rejoined the team following his father's funeral. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll singled out Robinson earlier this month during the Seahawks Town Hall while discussing young defensive linemen who were helping make the defense faster and more athletic.
If Robinson clears waivers Tuesday, he will revert to Seattle's injured reserve list.
