Seahawks Wednesday Practice Report: Five Players Sidelined To Open Week 12

A closer look at Wednesday's practice participation for the Seahawks and their Week 12 opponent, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The first practice report of Week 12 is out and five players did not participate to start the week for the Seahawks.

Linebacker Bruce Irvin (knee), wide receiver Paul Richardson (hamstring), right tackle Garry Gilliam (ankle), right guard J.R. Sweezy (shoulder), and wide receiver Doug Baldwin (ankle) were sidelined on Wednesday. Seattle head coach Pete Carroll said it would be a gameday decision "at best" for Irvin and Richardson, each of whom missed the Seahawks' Week 11 win over the San Francisco 49ers to injury. Baldwin and Gilliam came out of this past Sunday's win with sore ankles and earlier Wednesday Carroll said Baldwin participated in the team's walk thru and was "a little bit sore, but he's not going to miss this game." Carroll didn't have an update on Gilliam or Sweezy, but on his radio show earlier this week sounded optimistic the pair would be ready to go.

Outside of those five, rookie running back Thomas Rawls (knee), who had a record-day against the 49ers and is expected to start in place of the injured Marshawn Lynch, was limited Wednesday. Center Patrick Lewis (ankle) was a full participant and Carroll said "he'll be fine" for gameday.

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle's opponent this week, every player participated in full except for cornerback Brandon Boykin (ankle), who was limited. The Steelers should be near full health against the Seahawks this Sunday at CenturyLink Field, as they're the third straight team Seattle will face coming off of its bye week.
