Seahawks Wrap Up Crucial Catch Month

The Seahawks wrap up the month of October having hosted events, and activations throughout the month for the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative.

Throughout October, in honor of the NFL's Crucial Catch initiative, the Seahawks hosted events, had a different activations on gamedays and a player visit a local hospital.

Crucial Catch Flag Raising

To kick off the month, the Seahawks partnered with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health for the NFL's Crucial Catch initiative and in honor of the partnership, members of the Seahawks and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health raised the Crucial Catch flag at Lumen Field.

Hosting Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Patients

Then ahead of the Seahawks Crucial Catch game on October 6, the Seahawks hosted six Virginia Mason Franciscan Health patients that have beaten cancer, at a Saturday practice.

Gameday Moments

During the Crucial Catch gameday, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health provided impactful moments to celebrate all impacted with cancer and help in the effort to intercept cancer with early detection by providing opportunity for the 12s to get lung and prostate cancer screenings in Ticketmaster Tailgate. Then during halftime of the game, the Seahawks celebrated those six local Virginia Mason Franciscan Health cancer patients as they officially rung the Crucial Catch bell on the field.

Education Event

After the Crucial Catch game, experts from the Therapy Fund Foundation along with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, Seahawks team clinician Roy Fisher, and wide receiver Tyler Lockett were part of a part of a mental health discussion panel. Afterwards attendees learned more about screenable cancers and how to help catch them early.

The Seahawks hosted a crucial catch education seminar on October 21, 2024 at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.

Pro Shop Proceeds

And throughout the entire month of October, the Seahawks donated 12 percent of the proceeds from in-store Seahawks Pro Shop purchases of official Crucial Catch gear to the Crucial Catch Fund. In partnership with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, the Crucial Catch Fund will help local patients who cannot cover the incidental costs of cancer treatment.

Game Ball Delivery

The Seahawks capped off the month with a game ball delivery to Dr. Paul Mitsuyama, Radiation Oncologist of St. Francis Hospital. Seahawks linebacker Boye Mafe did the honors of presenting the Crucial Catch game ball.
