The end resultĀ of Jon Ryan's attempt to pick up a first down with his legs on an aborted punt following a low snap in the first quarter of Sunday's 10-9 wild-card win in Minnesota wasn't very favorable.
Not only did the Seahawks punter fall three yards short of the line to gain, but he landed flat on his face in the process after attempting to leap over Minnesota running back Jerick McKinnon and linebacker Jason Trusnik, who stopped Ryan's run on the botchedĀ special teams play. The Vikings turned that field position into three points and it was announced that Ryan had sustained a nose injury and was questionable to return.
Postgame, Pete Carroll saidĀ thatĀ his punter's nose "looked terrible" and "might be" broken, but admirably, Ryan was able to return to action and finish the game.Ā Carroll'sĀ assessment of Ryan'sĀ setback was pretty accurate though, asĀ evidenced by the photoĀ Ryan tweeted of himself on Monday morning that showedĀ a swollen nose nestled in between black and blue marks under each eye.
Ryan'sĀ image was coupled with the light-hearted caption, "You should see the other guy," a good indication that Ryan is taking Sunday's injury lightly, even if his impact on the TCF Bank Stadium turf was anything but.
