This weekend's game between the Seahawks and Carolina Panthers will feature Seattle sporting what has become a common - and successful - look at Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium.
The club will wear its blue jerseys paired with wolf grey pants for Sunday's divisional round playoff matchup. It's the same uniform combination the Seahawks wore while earning regular-season wins at Carolina in 2012 and 2013, with Seattle owning a 2-2 overall record in blue/wolf grey since transitioning to its new-look Nike digs four seasons ago.
The team's 2012 win in blue jerseys and wolf grey pants at Carolina saw the Seahawks defense sack Cam Newton four times while limiting the Carolina quarterback to what was a career-low 141 yards passing in a 16-12 victory. Up 16-10 with less than four minutes to play, Seattle forced a Newton incompletion on a 4th-and-goal play from the 1-yard-line, took an intentional safety with a minute to go, and on the Panthers' ensuing possession then-rookie Bruce Irvin forced a Newton fumble that the Seahawks recovered to seal the win.
In 2013's win in blue/wolf grey at Carolina, quarterback Russell Wilson's 43-yard fourth-quarter touchdown to wideout Jermaine Kearse put the Seahawks on top and free safety Earl Thomas forced a fumble that the Seahawks recovered to run out the clock and preserve a 12-7 win.
The first of the Seahawks' two losses in blue jerseys and wolf grey pants came in 2012 against the Dolphins in Miami, where in a Buffalo-Wild-Wings-like moment the field's sprinkles turned on toward the end of the third quarter. The other defeat came in a 2014 matchup at San Diego, where the Chargers smartly chose to wear all white on a 95-degree day that saw temperatures spike as high as 118 degrees down on the field.
Even as the visiting team, the Seahawks' traditional road white jersey was scrapped from the divisional-round uniform equation earlier this week when the home-team Panthers announced they would be wearing white jerseys with white pants for Sunday's game. It's the same uniform combo Carolina wore during those 2012 and 2013 regular-season losses to Seattle.
The Seahawks have never worn blue jerseys with grey pants in the postseason, but here's a look at how each uniform combo has fared over the years:
