Tyler Lockett has scooped up a hat-trick of awards this week, having been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday, NFC Special Teams Player of the Month earlier Thursday, and now claiming Rookie of the Week honors by way of fan vote at NFL.com.
Lockett, who was voted to the 2016 Pro Bowl as a return specialist last month, brought back four punts for 139 yards in this past Sunday's 36-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals and also added 36 yards receiving and seven more yards on the ground. The 139 punt-return yards were a franchise record, topping the previous mark of 106 set in 1999 by Charlie Rogers. Three of Lockett's punt returns went for more than 30 yards (66, 42, 31), making him the only player in the past 10 seasons to record three punt returns of 30-plus yards in the same game.
To win Rookie of the Week, Lockett received more fan votes than Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess, Washington Redskins wide receiver Jamison Crowder, Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker, and Buffalo Bills linebacker A.J. Tarpley. It's the second Rookie of the Week award Lockett has received for his play in the 2015 regular season. He also won in Week 14 when he made six catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks' 35-6 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
