Curious who plays in each game and how much they play, as well as what the distribution of playing time might mean? We'll post the snap counts for the Seahawks the day after each game and take a look at what stood out.
Here's a few notes from the Seahawks' 26-24 Week 17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals:
Offense
- Five players, including quarterback Russell Wilson, center Justin Britt, guard Luke Joeckel, and tackles Germain Ifedi and Duane Brown, played 100 percent of Seattle's 58 offensive snaps.
- Starting right guard Ethan Pocic went out of the game early with a knee injury and played just 19 percent of Seattle's snaps. Rookie Jordan Roos replaced Pocic on the line, logging 47 snaps (81 percent) in the first extended offensive action of his career.
- Doug Baldwin led the receiver group in play time, with the veteran on the field for 97 percent of Seattle's plays and recording two touchdowns on a team-high four catches for a game-high 90 yards. Fellow starter Paul Richardson saw 88 percent of the Seahawks' offensive snaps, while third receiver Tyler Lockett — who had a big night in the return game — was on the field for 62 percent of the offensive plays. Rookie David Moore, who was active for the first time this season, was in on 16 percent of snaps for Seattle.
- At tight end, Jimmy Graham was in on 72 percent of Seattle's snaps, while backup Luke Willson, who suffered an ankle injury during the week of practice, was in for half of the Seahawks' snaps. Nick Vannett, meanwhile, was inactive with a back injury, giving way to Tyrone Swoopes, who was promoted off the practice squad the day before the game to account for the potential absences of Willson and Vannett. Swoopes was in the game for two offensive plays.
Defense
- Safeties Bradley McDougald and Earl Thomas, linebacker Bobby Wagner, and cornerback Shaquill Griffin were in the game for all 71 of the Seahawks' defensive snaps. Griffin recorded his first career interception, picking off a Drew Stanton pass in the game's third quarter.
- Michael Bennett led the defensive line rotation, seeing the field on 82 percent of plays. Bennett was followed by Jarran Reed (77 percent), Frank Clark (69 percent), Sheldon Richardson (68 percent), Dion Jordan (45 percent), Branden Jackson (31 percent), and Garrison Smith (28 percent). Jordan logged the Seahawks' only sack.
Special Teams
- In his second game back from last season's ACL tear, DeShawn Shead was on the field for 86 percent of the snaps, recording a team-high two special teams tackles.
- Neiko Thorpe also played 86 percent of the snaps, while Michael Wilhoite played 84 percent. Also seeing a majority of the snaps on special teams were Delano Hill (70 percent), Paul Dawson (68 percent), Marcus Smith (62 percent), Justin Coleman (54 percent) and Willson (54 percent).
- Terence Garvin, usually one of the top special teams players, was on the field for only six plays due to a concussion.
