DK Metcalf's freakish athleticism tends to translate well to just about anything he's tried. Two years ago, he ran a 100-meter dash at the USTAF Golden Games, narrowly missing an automatic Olympic Trials qualification by 0.31 seconds.
So it's no wonder that he's now received two all-star invitations away from the gridiron: the 2021 MLB All-Star Celebrity Softball Game and this year's 2023 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.
Listed at 6'4" and 235 pounds, Metcalf measures similarly to Minnesota Wolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards, who also made his All-Star Weekend debut in Salt Lake City.
Metcalf suited up in white for Team Dwyane Wade alongside teammates like WNBA star Arike Ogunbowale, comedian Hasan Minhaj, rapper 21 Savage, and American tennis player Frances Tiafoe.
On the court as a starter, Metcalf dunked the first points of the game and never looked back. He went on to record 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks in the win for Team Dwyane. His dominant double-double also earned him the game's MVP trophy.
"I never thought I was going to win MVP," Metcalf said after hoisting the trophy which was presented to him by his team's coach, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. "I just came here to hoop around, but it feels great."
"It was a great all-around experience to be on the court with some of these guys, a lot of legends that played in the NBA, man. It was just a blessing."
