The Seahawks raised a flag at Renton's Virginia Mason Athletic Center to support Sounders FC winning its first-ever MLS Cup Championship. The Seattle soccer club is celebrating its penalty-kick victory over Toronto FC with a march and rally today through the streets of downtown Seattle.
On Monday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, who of course was present for his own team's Super Bowl-winning parade following the 2013 season, was asked if he had any advice for the Sounders as they enjoy this moment.
"I wish I could go," Carroll said as the Seahawks ready for their Thursday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Rams. "A normal Tuesday we might have been able to make it. That was a fantastic game, just as dramatic as it could be and guys coming through. That was really exciting. We got a chance to watch that, so that was a thrill. Have fun."
Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson added that the celebration is "pretty special" for the Sounders.
"Wish we could celebrate with you," Wilson said. "We had a bunch of guys watching the game and it's such a special thing to win a championship. It's a big, big deal and it means a lot to Seattle."
