Baldwin Nominated For MTRWestern Sports Star Of The Year
Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin has been named a nominee for the "Male Sports Star of the Year" award at the 83rd annual MTRWestern Sports Star Of The Year Awards, the Seattle Sports Commission's annual event honoring Seattle's most inspiring and iconic sports individuals, legends, media and more.
Baldwin is the sixth-straight Seahawks players to be nominated for the award dating back to 2012, following Marshawn Lynch, Russell Wilson, Earl Thomas, Michael Bennett and Bobby Wagner.
This past year, Baldwin made his second-consecutive Pro Bowl and led the Seahawks in receiving yards as one of the team's lethal offensive weapons. Off the field, Baldwin continued to be one of the teams outspoken leaders and played a key role in developing the Seahawks' Players Equality & Justice For All Action Fund, which is an effort to "create lasting change and build a more compassionate and inclusive society." The grant, which raised over $1 million in donations, provided grants to seven non-profit organizations.
Voting for the award is already open and takes place until January 26. Fans can vote for their favorite male and female athlete and sports story of the year online here.
The 2018 awards will take place at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel on February 8. Tickets can be purchased online.
