Three Seahawks Reflect on Making The Cut
The Seattle Seahawks made the cut to 53-players Tuesday, releasing the initial roster with less than two weeks until the home opener against the Denver Broncos. For some, there was no question whether or not they'd make the Seahawks roster. Here are three Seahawks that had an outstanding summer that aided them in making the team's roster thus far.
CB Michael Jackson
In 2021, the Seattle Seahawks added cornerback and University of Miami alum Michael Jackson Sr. to the practice squad. In January, Seattle signed Jackson to a reserve/future contract. The 2019 fifth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2019 has used the offseason as a means to up his chances to make the team - and it's paid off.
Jackson's efforts throughout the summer have many calling for a ‘surprise’ season out of the third-year corner.
Jackson discussed the feeling of making the initial roster with the press today.
"I was just being me, I didn't try to be anyone else," said Jackson. "I worked hard and prepared my body and mind. All of those mental reps that I got last year for the whole season, all of that went into play."

In the Seahawks' preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys, Jackson shined bright, deflecting three passes and recording three tackles.
Jackson knows the season is long and he has plenty of work ahead of him.
"Just be consistent, don't change my play because now it is the regular season," said Jackson. "Football is football doesn't matter whether it's preseason, training camp, or the Super Bowl. It doesn't matter because at the end of the day, we are all playing football."
DT Myles Adams
After a brief stint on the Carolina Panthers practice squad, Undrafted Rice alum defensive end Myles Adams joined the Seattle Seahawks practice squad in 2020. In January, Adams was one of 12 players to sign a reserve/future contract with the Seahawks.
From camp to preseason, Adams has come out firing on all-cylinders to make sure he made the initial roster. The third-year edge rusher hit the podium at the team presser today to discuss the difference in knowing he was going to make the roster opposed to making the practice squad again.
"Well, I've been through this," said Adams. "This is my third training camp, so usually in my experience you get the call, they tell you that you did good but they want to bring you back on the practice squad and I didn't get the call yesterday. So, I walked in and the first person I saw was Thomas (Garcia), my guy, and he dapped me up and told me congratulations and that was it."
Preparation is key, and Adams came into the summer with a new approach.
"It's been a culmination of a lot of things like preparation," said Adams. "I think I had a really good summer and offseason. We worked a lot, we had a lot of good times together with the d-line, individual time, worked on our skillsets, worked on the defense, and I was able to show up and a lot of plays came my way and I was able to make them."
WR Dareke Young
Seattle Seahawks rookie wideout Dareke Young makes the initial roster, making Division II Lenoir-Rhyne proud.
The seventh-round selection hit the podium today to discuss the biggest adjustment he has to make so far to the NFL game.
"I would say the speed," said Young. "Not necessarily the speed of the players but pretty much everybody are film geeks. They know where things are going to be before it happens, so they get there pretty fast. I would definitely say that's the biggest difference."
Young discussed why his mother was the first person he called after learning he made the roster.
"She's been very instrumental for me," said Young. "She sends me prayers every morning, keeps me grounded, and she's the motivation for me. So, very instrumental."
