To build on what has already been an exciting week for Seahawks draft picks, they all took the field Friday afternoon, in a Seahawks jersey, for a rookie minicamp practice.

DT Byron Murphy II, G Christian Haynes, LB Tyrice Knight, CB Nehemiah Pritchett, T Sataoa Laumea, CB D.J. James and T Michael Jerrell all practiced, but TE AJ Barner sat out, dealing with a hamstring injury. The Seahawks first four draft picks, Murphy, Haynes, Knight and Barner spoke with the media after practice Friday.

Here are some highlights of what they each said:

Byron Murphy II felt 'great' about today's practice.

"I feel like I had a great day at practice, I feel like there's some things I need to work on but I feel like I'm learning, still getting in the groove of things. Overall, today I feel like I had a good day."

And today was only Day 1 of practice, but Murphy feels like this environment will create the perfect opportunity for him to have a good season.

"The scheme and the defense we run, I feel like the position I'm in, it creates a lot of one-on-ones for me. In one-on-ones I feel like I can get a lot of sacks, and also have a successful season."

Christian Haynes wants to show that he's a technically-sound player.

"First day, it wasn't as bad. There's not a lot of pressure on a lot of people and O-line wise, we communicated a lot and that really helped us look more smooth on operation. It felt good for our first day."

Adding to that, Haynes says that through camp, he wants to, "learn what the coaches want and just showing that I can still move my feet, have my hands in the right place."

Tyrice Knight feels like he belongs on the field.

"The first five minutes of practice brought the jitters, first NFL practice, but once I got through the day and started sweating a little bit, things started to feel smoother for me as practice went along I felt like I belonged to be out there."

Knight also said that he felt like he was in his comfort zone once practice started, because of how similarly he was used in practice Friday, compared to how he was used at UTEP.

"It felt good getting out there for the first day, able to get my feet wet, show that I want to be here. Honestly, looking forward to the next day, just stacking days on days and just make a better name for myself."

AJ Barner can't wait to compete.

On Friday, Barner sat out of practice because of a tweaked hamstring but said he's feeling really good.

"I'm a competitor and I love being out here and one thing about me, I'm going to do everything I can to be back as fast as possible, and I'm on a track to be back really soon," Barner said.

Barner said that he injured his hamstring while training before he got to Seattle.
