The Seahawks traveled to New York on a business trip to claim their first Lombardi Trophy and experienced a week of preparation like none other.

Marshawn Lynch makes his way to the team buses as the Seahawks departed the Virginia Mason Athletic Center for their weeklong trip to New York/New Jersey for Super Bowl XLVIII.

A wildly enthusiastic crowd comprised of housands of 12's lined the route as the four buses carrying the Seahawks, coaches and staff threaded their way to SeaTac International Airport for their departure.

Upon reaching SeaTac, the players were greeted by members of the airport's fire department, and cornerback Richard Sherman made sure to greet and thank each and every one of them.

On Monday, the Seahawks paid their first visit to the Quest Diagnostic Training Center, usually home of the New York Giants, but home to the NFC Champions for Super Bowl week. Sherman couldn't resist playing with the snow on the team's initial visit to the facility.

Before the team's first meeting in New Jersey and while the team got accustomed to their new surroundings, head coach Pete Carroll warmed up with a few jump shots with assistant Ben Malcolmson.

The Seahawks practiced in the Giants' indoor facility which is located right next to MetLife Stadium, site of SuperBowl XLVIII.

Being on the road did not change the team's workout regimen. After practice, K.J. Wright and the other players hit the weight room for their usual routines.

Quarterbacks coach Carl Smith and starting quarterback Russell Wilson share a laugh as they walk to the buses after a day of meetings and practice.

Linebacker K.J. Wright, sporting new headphones given to the players by Beats by Dre, takes photos of the Statue of Liberty as the team returns to their hotel from practice.

Tuesday brought the annual Super Bowl Media Day, and Richard Sherman changed back into his sweats after doing television promos in his game jersey.

Players take it easy in the "green room" backstage at Media Day, relaxing on couches before facing the onslaught of cameras and microphones that awaited them.

While waiting in the green room, Russell Wilson's teammates "prepare" him for the media by turning their own cameras on him.

At the end of the hour-long media session for the Seahawks, running back Marshawn Lynch paused to sign a few autographs for young fans backstage.

From the team's arrival on Sunday until Thursday before the game, players are obligated to do media interviews. On Wednesday, receiver Golden Tate does a phone interview away from the media area at the team's hotel in New Jersey.

Despite freezing temperatures, bright sun greeted the Seahawks on Wednesday as Russell Wilson made the short walk from the main building to the indoor practice facility in New Jersey.

Thursday was the final day of media availability for players and Jermaine Kearse wanted to make sure everyone knew who he was by placing his nameplate on his head. Little did reporters know that come Sunday, they would know Kearse after he broke four tackles and scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl victory.

Seahawks Earl Thomas and Russell Wilson make their way down a back corridor to the team buses that took them daily from the team hotel to the practice facility.

With long days and their bodies adjusting to the time change on the East Coast, players rested when they could. Golden Tate snuck in a quick nap in the empty locker room at the team's practice facility.

Back at the hotel, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn works on the game plan as a banner on the wall serves as a constant reminder of the ultimate goal.

Assistant equipment manager Derin Lazuta applies Seahawks logo decals to helmets in preparation for the game. The Super Bowl logo has already been affixed in the back left of the helmet.

As the players get ready for practice on Thursday, Marshawn Lynch keeps things loose in the middle of the locker room.

Defensive lineman Tony McDaniel undergoes hydrotherapy in the tub before practice.

In a twist before Friday's workout, offensive linemen Russell Okung and Breno Giacomini swapped jerseys with backs Michael Robinson and Marshawn Lynch, then Okung grabbed a video camera and turned the tables on Robinson's "Real Rob Report".

Breno Giacomini, left, as Marshawn Lynch, and Russell Okung, right as Michael Robinson, make their way to practice in jerseys that are a wee bit too small.

While the rest of team practiced on the one indoor field, Seattle specialists found room on an outdoor field cleared of snow, then practiced field goals with a view of the New York skyline off in the distance.

Head coach Pete Carroll and his son Nate Carroll work together in the dining room of the practice facility on Friday.

Lost in their thoughts and their music, Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas stare out the windows of the bus on the return to the hotel after practice.

Gotta look sharp in front of a worldwide audience, so safety Kam Chancellor's barber showed up at the team hotel and set up in a dining room to make sure Kam was right for game day.

Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, left, and head coach Pete Carroll chat between meetings at the hotel.

The Seahawks paid a brief visit to MetLife Stadium on Saturday, where Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas laughed at photos on Sherman's camera.

As is his custom on stadium walk-thrus, kicker Steven Hauschka visualizes and then practices his placekicking routine in the stadium before he heads back to the bus.
