In coach Mike Holmgren's last home game, the Seahawks outlast the New York Jets on a snowy Sunday afternoon to post the fourth – and final – victory of Holmgren's final season.
In their first regular-season game under coach Pete Carroll, the Seahawks trounce the San Francisco 49ers 31-6 in Seattle. The victory would prove pivotal in the Seahawks winning the NFC West, despite having a 7-9 record.
To take control of the NFC West, the Seahawks would have to find a way to win in St. Louis against the Rams, who had won four of the previous six division titles. It finally happened on the second Sunday of October in 2005 – 37-31. The Seahawks had lost three in a row in St. Louis.
