The Seahawks hired Mack Brown as tight ends coach on February 22, 2024. Brown spent five seasons with the New York Jets; three as an offensive assistant, after two seasons as a defensive assistant.
In 2023, Brown was part of a staff that helped RB Breece Hall accumulate a team-high 1,585 yards from scrimmage, the most by a Jet since Curtis Martin's franchise-record 1,942 in 2004. Hall also passed another milestone with his 190 scrimmage yards vs. the Patriots — he reached 190-plus scrimmage yards and 190-plus all-purpose yards in a game for the fourth time in his career. He's the first Jet to have four 190-plus YFS games in back-to-back seasons in franchise history. (Martin had five such games but spread them out from 1999-2004). Tight end Jack Conklin reached career highs in receptions (61), yards (621) and first downs (27) -- playing with four different quarterbacks. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson finished his sophomore season with 1,042 receiving yards, 3 touchdowns and a career-high 95 receptions – 14th most in the NFL. The 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year became the first Jets receiver in franchise history to start a career with consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
In 2022 , Brown worked primarily with the wide receivers, including serving as the interim wide receivers coach for the last three games. Rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson led all rookies in receptions and receiving yards, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Additionally, Brown served as the team's interim wide receivers coach for the last three games.
In the 2022 Senior Bowl, Brown was elevated to wide receivers coach working with the National Team's six WRs as part of a staff that won 20-10.
In 2021, his first on the offensive side with the Jets, Brown worked primarily with the wide receivers as five different Jets receivers caught 25+ passes, the only such team in the League in 2021, while four had multiple touchdown receptions.
Working primarily with the linebackers in his first two seasons (2019- 20) with the Jets, Brown helped five different inside linebackers produce at least one 10+ tackle game, as the defense allowed just 99.5 yards per game rushing, the fourth best average in the League.
Prior to joining the Jets, Brown spent the previous three seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Missouri State, helping the Bears increase their scoring average in consecutive seasons.
Before Missouri State, Brown served on the staff at Missouri, starting as a recruiting assistant before adding the role of offensive quality control and graduate assistant. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at William Jewell College, before moving on as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Lawrence (KS) High School.
As a player at Baker, Brown was a first-team All-HAAC performer in 2008 and a three-time NAIA Academic All-American, helping to lead the Wildcats to their first NAIA playoff berth in 15 years. He finished with school records for most passing yards in a career, season, and game by a Wildcat quarterback.
Brown completed a master's degree in health, physical education, and recreation from Emporia State in 2011. He and his wife, Amanda have a son, Reed.
