The Seahawks wrapped up an abbreviated week of practice on Wednesday, one that head coach Mike Macdonald said was productive despite the limitations that come with preparing for a Thursday night game.
"I thought the guys did a tremendous job," Macdonald said. "They deserve a lot of credit. We've had a couple of spirted walkthrough-type workouts, practices, a mesh of all of the above, and we're ready to go. We'll meet again briefly tomorrow morning, then off we go."
The Seahawks will face the 49ers missing a trio of key players on defense, with cornerback Riq Woolen (ankle), defensive tackle Byron Murphy II (hamstring) and outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (thigh) all ruled out. While the hope will be to get Murphy and Woolen back soon, Nwosu will be out for longer, with Macdonald confirming that the veteran pass rusher will go on injured reserve.
"Unfortunately, we're going to put Chenna on IR," Macdonald said. "Timeline, we're not sure, but we think there's a really good chance to get him back by the end of the season. We're with him right now, he needs our support. The guy has gone through a tough time, and he's going to battle his tail off. He's going to be back better than ever, but it's just unfortunate for him. He's a guy that we lean on as a team, he's a leader on our defense and our football team. But it's an opportunity to come back and be healthy and fresh for the end-of-season run."
The Seahawks also have three players listed as questionable, safety Julian Love and outside linebackers Boye Mafe and Derick Hall. Love, who has a hamstring injury, will be a game-day decision, while Macdonald expressed optimism that Mafe, who has missed two games with a knee injury, and Hall, who injured his foot in Sunday's game, will both play.
"Julian, we'll take it probably all the way up to the game," Macdonald said. "Those other two guys, we're confident they'll be out there."
Asked if Woolen, who injured his ankle on Sunday, will be out beyond this game, Macdonald said, "We'll see next week. But he looks good right now, he's moving around all right. He's just not ready to go this game."
The Seahawks held their third and final walkthrough of the week on Wednesday, October 9 as they get set to take on the 49ers on Thursday Night Football.
