Earl Thomas hosted 175 guests at a Bellevue restaurant on Monday for his second annual Steaks & Seahawks event, a gathering that helped raise funds for children and families in need.
The Seahawks free safety was joined by nearly 20 of his teammates who came out to support Thomas' Guardian Angel Foundation. With Thomas recently revealing he was diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) while attending the University of Texas, this year's event featured a more personal touch, as Thomas said he hopes to help kids in Seattle and his hometown of Orange, Texas who are facing similar disorders.
"This is the first year I kind of put my hands on it, put my rhythm into it," Thomas said last month of his Steaks & Seahawks event. "It's targeting kids and teens that have ADD and ADHD. It's something that I've battled my whole life, and I'm finding out more and more about it as I keep getting help, so I want them to have that same opportunity."
This season's affair raised more than $155,000 for the Guardian Angel Foundation, as guests enjoyed an auction, cocktails, and food with Thomas and his teammates. Proceeds from the evening will go to community outreach programs in an effort to fulfill the mission of Thomas' foundation.
"Anything I do, I want to do it just like football," Thomas told Q13 FOX last night. "I put my passion and everything I got in it. With my new teammates, these people that are being affected by the same thing I'm going through, I'm going to do the same thing - inject my passion. These guys, before they came to the Seahawks, they weren't playing with passion like that. I'm trying to tell you, and I'm comfortable in saying it, so I feel like I'm going to have that same impact on the people that I affect."
