How The Seahawks Can Earn A First-Round Bye

The Seahawks cliched the NFC West with Sunday's 20-9 victory over the Rams, guaranteeing they'll host at least one playoff game and be one of the NFC's top three seeds.

Improving upon that position for the Seahawks would require not just a win in their regular-season finale against San Francisco, but also some help from a couple other NFC teams.

The Seahawks can still earn the No. 1 seed and the first-round bye that comes with it if they beat the 49ers and if Green Bay loses to the Chicago Bears and if New Orleans loses or ties their game against Carolina.

While the Packers (12-3) and Saints (11-4) have the better records than their Week 17 opponents, they're both on the road, and in the case of the Packers game at Chicago, the Bears can clinch a playoff berth with a win.
