On This Date: Grand Opening For Seahawks' New Stadium

A look at some memorable moments in Seahawks history that occurred on July 20

2002

The grand opening of Seahawks Stadium, built on the site where the Kingdome once stood, begins with Public Fan Fare Days and is followed by three weeks of public open houses. The name of the stadium was changed to Qwest Field in 2004 and it became CenturyLink Field in 2011. By any name, the state-of-the-art stadium has been good for the Seahawks, who are 73-31 at home over the past 12 seasons including playoffs – and also posted the only three unbeaten home records in franchise history in 2003, 2005 and 2012.

1985

The Seahawks open their 10th training camp at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. It is billed as their "final" summer at EWU, since camp would move to Kirkland in 1986. But the Seahawks returned to EWU from 1997-2006.
