On this date: Steve Largent 'embarrasses' Lions' replacement players

A look at some memorable moments in Seahawks history that occurred on Oct. 18.

A look at some memorable moments in Seahawks history that occurred on Oct. 18:

1987: Steve Largent sets franchise records with 15 catches for 261 yards and catches three of Jeff Kemp's four touchdown passes in a 37-14 victory over the Detroit Lions at the Silverdome in the final game played with replacement players during the NFL players' strike. Largent, Kemp, center Blair Bush and inside linebacker Fredd Young, who has 13.5 tackles, rejoined the team just before the strike was settled. Asked after the game why he had not used double coverage on Largent, Lions coach Darryl Rogers offers, "Why embarrass two guys when you can just embarrass one?"

1981: Joe Danelo kicks six field goals and the New Giants' defense holds the Seahawks to 127 yards in a 32-0 victory at the Kingdome. The loss is the last in a five-game losing streak for the Seahawks.

1992: The Seahawks are shutout for the second consecutive week, this time 19-0 by the Los Angeles Raiders at the Kingdome, as their losing streak is extended to four games. The defense holds the Raiders to 248 yards, but 66 of them come on a fourth-quarter touchdown run by Nick Bell. Cortez Kennedy collects two of what will become 14 sacks in a season when he's named NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

2012: The Seahawks fail to score a touchdown for the only time during their 11-5 season as they fall 13-6 to the 49ers at Candlestick Park in a Thursday night game. Marshawn Lynch runs for 103 yards, but the Seahawks also yield 175 rushing yards – including 131 by Frank Gore. The linebacker trio of K.J. Wright (nine), Leroy Hill (nine) and Bobby Wagner (eight) combines for 26 tackles.
