12th Man Rising Jake Luppino is picking the Seahawks to win at home 24-20 in Monday night’s prime-time game.
"Shane Waldron should design more plays that will allow Geno to get the ball out quicker and give his guys a chance at making a play after the catch. We saw both DK Metcalf and Gerald Everett do that in Week 6. Heck, they even put Tyler Lockett as the punt returner, seeing if he can give them a spark there. Regardless — this is probably my heart picking over my brain — I have the Seattle Seahawks keeping their season alive, defeating the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football, 24-20."
"Can Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith keep Seattle from falling into a probably-insurmountable 2-5 hole? This is pretty much a must-win game for the Seahawks, who are already four games back in the NFC West and will be without Russell Wilson for at least one more game after this one. Smith played well enough in the second half last week to give the Seahawks a chance to win before losing a fumble in overtime on a T.J. Watt strip sack. Against New Orleans, he won't face as strong a pass-rush or as dominant a defender."
Seattle Times Larry Stone predicts the Seahawks will defeat the Saints 24-21 in a “must-win” game in order for Seattle to have a chance at the playoffs. "This is pretty much a must-win for the Seahawks to have any semblance of a chance to make the playoffs. And playing at home and in prime time — two of their most favorable variants — they'll squeak out a win behind Geno Smith."
Sporting News Bill Bender expects the Saints to come back after a bye week strong and healthy. Bender has the Saints on the road 28-24. "The Saints are 2-1 on the road this season, and they had a bye week to prepare for the Seahawks. New Orleans is 12-6 after a bye week since Sean Payton took over in 2006. Seattle will compete at home, and Jameis Winston must avoid the big turnover.
"The Saints are coming off the bye, which will help make this trip a tad easier to handle. The Seahawks will again start Geno Smith in this game at quarterback against a good Saints defense. Look for Jameis Winston to play well against a bad Seattle defense. Saints take it."
