Renton, Wash. – The Seattle Seahawks have named Dwaine Board assistant defensive line coach, Chris Cash assistant secondary/cornerbacks coach and Andre Curtis assistant secondary/safeties coach, the team announced this afternoon.
Board returns to the Seahawks where he spent six seasons (2003-08) as defensive line coach, helping the team rank second in the NFL with 136 sacks from 2005-07 and totaling an NFL-leading 50 sacks during Seattle's Super Bowl XL run in 2005. Following his time in Seattle, he spent two seasons each with the Oakland Raiders (2009-10), Cleveland Browns (2011-12) and St. Francis High in Mountain View, Calif. (2013-14).
Board earned three Super Bowl rings (1981, 1984, 1988) with the San Francisco 49ers during his 10-year playing career (1979-88) and was named Super Bowl XIX Defensive Player of the Game after recording four tackles and 2.0 sacks vs. Miami after the 1984 season. He began his coaching career in San Francisco where he coached the defensive line from 1990-2002, helping the 49ers win Super Bowl XXIX vs. San Diego after the 1994 season. He is one of 20 people in NFL history to win a Super Bowl as both a player and coach.
Cash reunites with Pete Carroll after playing at USC from 2000-01 and he was a second-team All-Pac-10 selection at cornerback his senior season. A sixth-round selection (175th overall) by the Detroit Lions in the 2002 NFL Draft, Cash spent five seasons in the NFL but spent the 2003 and 2006 seasons on injured reserve. With Detroit (2002-04) and Atlanta (2005-06), he started 17 of 30 games played with 142 tackles (124 solo), two interceptions, 14 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Cash began his coaching career at Riverside Community College as secondary coach in 2007. He then spent five seasons (2008-12) at his alma mater, Franklin High School, as defensive coordinator before moving on to Florida A&M to coach safeties for the previous two years.
Curtis joins his fourth NFL team, as he was a defensive quality control coach for the New York Giants from 2006-08, defensive backs/safeties coach for the St. Louis Rams from 2009-11 and assistant secondary coach for the Saints from 2012-14. Prior to the NFL, he coached defensive ends at Georgia Southern (2004-05) and linebackers at his alma mater, Virginia Military Institute, from 2000-03.
