SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and Q13 FOX (KCPQ) announced Josh Hanigan of Bellarmine Preparatory School as the week three CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Josh will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the October 29 game vs. the Houston Texans.
Josh, a senior at Bellarmine Preparatory School, was selected Athlete of the Week based on his leadership through athletics, academics, and community action. He is dedicated to his academics and holds a 3.7 GPA while researching ways to help athletes with performance anxiety for his "Mental Mindfulness in Athletics" capstone project. Community service is important to Josh and he frequently volunteers at Run to Win, a community football camp. As a 6th grader, he started the Cleats for ALL Athletes program, helping to supply new and used cleats to athletes in need. This fall, Josh will be the captain for Bellarmine Preparatory School's football team. He was recognized as 4A All League Offense his junior year, and always makes himself available to mentor younger teammates and youth players.
Each student athlete will be recognized at his or her school in front of families, peers and teachers, as well as at a Seahawks game. Each winner will also receive a $1,000 grant to their school's Athletic Department from the Seahawks along with media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2017 Seahawks jersey. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to high schools over the course of the program.
