SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and Q13 FOX (KCPQ) announced Ross Sherrer of North Thurston High School as the week five CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Ross will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the November 7 game vs. the Buffalo Bills.
Ross, a senior at North Thurston High School, was selected Athlete of the Week based on his dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership, and athletic performance. Ross is a 4.0 student on the honor roll and takes several Advanced Placement classes. Ross was also a North Thurston School District Spring Scholar Athlete for the 2015-16 school year. Ross is involved with local youth football programs as a referee and assistant coach. He also is involved with local fundraisers to support teachers and classroom enhancements at North Thurston. Ross is a leader on both his football and track teams and inspires his teammates to remain positive even when a game, or life, isn't going their way.
Each student athlete will be recognized at his or her school in front of families, peers and teachers, as well as at a Seahawks game. Each winner will also receive a $1,000 equipment grant to their school from the Seahawks for their school's Athletic Department along with media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2016 Seahawks jersey. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to high schools over the course of the program.
